Description
New York Baroque Music Festival
Join Opera Lafayette for a music festival illuminating the Era of Madame de Maintenon, the last mistress and secret wife of Louis XIV. First, witness the modern premiere of Mouret's opéra-ballet Les Fêtes de Thalie — a witty, joyful, female-centric tale that will have you laughing and cheering until the end. Next honored is the inspiring tale of struggle and survival with excerpts of works by Jean-Baptiste Moreau and George Frideric Handel, both having roots in Jean Racine's Esther, after the biblical story.
Plus, to celebrate this exciting festival, don't miss "The Feast of the Muses," their Gala chaired by Susan Gutfreund, honoring renowned musician Christophe Rousset at the Museum of the City of New York.
